Top Places To Visit In Idaho

Idaho is a very diverse state with much to see and do.  The best way to get around the state of Idaho is with a rental car.  By renting a car you will have the flexibility to see all that Idaho has to offer.  If you are driving through Idaho, some of the top cities to visit are:

The Entertainment District in Boise is home to the Julia Davis Park, Botanical Gardens and the Old Idaho Penitentiary.  A short drive from downtown Boise is the gorgeous Lucky Peak State Park. Although there is plenty to see and do in the city of Boise, you will want to use your rental car to drive out too many of the tourist attractions surrounding Boise.  Consider driving out to the trendy Basque Block to dine and shop in some of the area’s finest restaurants and shops. From here you can drive to the Boise Zoo, Black History Museum, Boise Art Museum and the Idaho Historic Museum.  You should also consider driving out to the Boise River Greenbelt a short drive from downtown Boise. This area boasts the Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial, Kathryn Albertsons Park, the Idaho Botanical Gardens, Morrison Knudsen Nature Center and State Capitol.

If you come to Idaho for its winter sports, the iconic Sun Valley Ski Resort and the Boise National Forest are both a two-hour drive from downtown Boise.  Other areas of interest include The Wallowa-Whitman National Forest where the Blue and Wallowa mountains reach Hells Canyon.  Coeur d’Alene attracts visitors due to its idyllic landscape and its outdoor sports on Lake Coeur d’Alene and walking trails in the Canfield Mountain Natural Area.  Finally, hit the road and drive along the Sawtooth Scenic Byway through central Idaho to the Sawtooth National Recreation Area and to the Moon National Monument and Preserve to see the ancient lava flows of the past.  From here do not miss the Shoshone Falls, considered the “Niagara of the West” found on the edge of Twin Falls.
