   Chengdu Travel Information

Chengdu is one of the largest and fastest growing cities in China. It’s the capital of China’s southwestern province of Sichuan. It has a thriving economy which is based on commerce and trade that has taken place on the Chengdu river for 100's of years.  Chengdu is a mix of old and new traditions, architecture and commerce as the city races to keep pace with its sibling rivals Beijing and Shanghai.  A visit to Chengdu is more relaxed than the bigger sibling cities with a relaxed vibe enjoyed in a fast-growing city. There are amazing UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Buddhists temples, ancient villages along modern buildings, the famous Sichuan Opera and exotic restaurants. The city is home to the Chegndu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Wherever you travel in Chengdu, you are sure to have an amazing cultural experience.

Top Things To Do In Chengdu

Chengdu is the 3rd largest and most modern city of China.  The popular attractions throughout the city include historical sites rich in religious Taoism such as the Wenshu Monastery, The Sanxingdui Archeological Site & Museum, Wuhou Memorial Temple and the Jinsha Ruins. A visit to Chengdu should include getting an up-close look at endanger giant pandas in their natural habitat at the famous, Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Take the metro to Qintai Road to experience old China, located west of central Chengdu, an ancient china themed street lined with tea houses, cafes, bars and trendy colorful stores and the Sichuan Opera houses.  In the evening, the Jialebi area comes alive with thriving clubs and KTV bars. Visitors will want to time in Jinli Old Street, a thriving area bursting with lively restaurants serving tasting Chuan Cuisine.

A few of our favorite day trips include.  The Leshan Giant Buddha, the largest stone seated Maitreya in the world, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Mount Qingcheng, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Chinese Taoism was founded. Mount Emei, the famous Buddhists mountains of China offer a top-notch ski resort in the winter and hiking and biking trails and boating in the summer. Two road trips worth taking by car is the Jiuzhaigou Valley (Nine Villages), where the scenery will take your breath away, and the Three Gorges along the Yangtze River.
